De-Owning or Decluttering

Whatever you want to call it, that is what I have been working on for the past year.  The more I get rid of, the more I see things that I don't really need.  One of my goals for 2012 is to continue on this path.

Today, I had a little downtime and wasn't really sure what I wanted to do.  As I walked by my closet, I was inspired to take everything out of my side...and I mean everything.  I decided that I would only put half of it back and that is exactly what I did.  The rest is bagged and ready to go to various locations.  The casual stuff will be dropped off at Value Village; the skirts, blouses and dress shoes are going to go to Dress For Success in Halifax.

This week I am planning on tackling books.  This is one area that we have been putting off.  We are all book lovers in this family so there is emotional attachment to deal with.  The first thing (and easiest, I hope) will be magazines...quilting, spinning, weaving. Many of my favourite issues are now available on CD or to download so there is really no need to be holding on to them.

What are you tackling this year?
